What To Pack For Paris In November

November brings decidedly cooler temperatures and a sweater and light jacket are recommended. Layers are your friend as sunny days are still temperate – so be prepared to shed the sweater if you are walking around the city center on a clear afternoon. November can bring regular showers – so bring along a travel umbrella. As always we recommend a versatile capsule wardrobe with mix and match pieces. The simplicity of Parisian style means worry less about fashion and more about comfort. Bring along a scarf and/or a cardigan sweater for warmth and to sharpen your more casual outfits. Opt for stylish sneakers to allow you to walk. Leave the fall boots with high heels at home – they are not great on the cobblestones of Paris.

🇫🇷 Les Frenchies Tip
When packing for your trip less is more. Leave behind your “just in case” items. Paris has stores at all price points and pharmacies in every neighborhood. Anything you forgot you can buy and believe us you will never use that extra thing you brought “just in case”. Read our full packing guide here →

What’s On In Paris In November

All Saints’ Day (La Toussaint) – November 1

This traditional Catholic holiday marks the start of November holidays across France and a fall break for French schools. All Saints’ Day is celebrated by honoring ancestors and deceased loved ones – sometimes by visiting graves and laying chrysanthemums. Government offices are closed but most public monuments and museums remain open – check official websites for attractions you plan to visit to confirm.

Armistice Day (Jour de l’Armistice) – November 11

The French observe this as a day of remembrance for the end of World War I but also as a memorial to honor fallen soldiers from all conflicts. The day is marked with a laying of a wreath at the Arc de Triomphe by the French President. At 11am there is a two minute silence followed by the ringing of bells across the country. This pause recognizes the official WW I ceasefire in 1918. Some citizens also mark the day by wearing the Bleuet de France (cornflower). The holiday also results in widespread closures of monuments, museums and some businesses so take this into account in your plans.

Beaujolais Nouveau Festival – November 19

France celebrates the latest Beaujolais Nouveau vintage from November 18-22. This young red wine is bottled six to eight weeks after harvest in France’s Beaujolais region – located just north of Lyon. Paris celebrates the Beaujolais Nouveau Festival on November 19 in cafes and restaurants across the city. Bistro and cafes host “uncorking” parties and hopping between locations to taste different releases along with charcuterie is a fun way to join the celebration. In addition, evening Seine Cruises often feature Beaujolais wines on the evening of November 19.

Best Things To Do In Paris In November

🎄 Start of the Festive Season

The holiday season “unofficially” kicks off with a special lighting event at the Champs-Élysées in mid-November and the Tuilleries Christmas Market (La Magie de Noël) opening also at mid-month. Additional Christmas markets open around town (Notre-Dame area at Square René Viviani, La Défense and other neighborhood markets) and remain open through early January.

🎭 Experience Paris Cabaret

Attending a cabaret show at the Moulin Rouge or Crazy Horse venues is one of those Paris experiences that lives up to the hype. Each has its own history and character.

Moulin Rouge

The Moulin Rouge in French literally means “Red Mill.” The venue and its cabaret show is a living piece of French culture and history that has sat at the heart of Montmartre’s bohemian nightlife for over 130 years. Today, the Moulin Rouge presents its revue show “Féerie” — a spectacular production featuring 100 performers, over 1,000 costumes, elaborate sets, acrobats, magicians, ventriloquists, and yes, the famous finale and its Cancan dance.

Crazy Horse

The Crazy Horse Paris (officially Le Crazy Horse de Paris) is one of the most iconic cabaret venues in the world. Founded in 1951 by Alain Bernardin on the prestigious Avenue George V, just steps from the Champs-Élysées, it has been dazzling audiences for over 70 years with a unique blend of dance, light artistry, and avant-garde choreography. While the Moulin Rouge offers a large-scale dinner show format, the Crazy Horse is a far more intimate and artistic experience. The venue seats only about 350 people, which means every seat delivers an up-close view of the stage.
