Paris Will Never Be The Same (Spring 2026 News & Update)
In this video we round up the Paris news for spring 2026 that matters if you are visiting soon: a new entry requirement for Americans, price changes at big attractions, what hotels really cost, and the events that can make getting around harder. This reflects what we knew when we filmed, so double-check dates before you travel.
Entry, attractions and prices
The biggest change is ETIAS, an online travel authorization US travelers are expected to need before entering France and most Schengen countries. It is not a visa: you apply online with your passport and a small fee, and it covers multiple trips. Louvre tickets for non-EU visitors are set to rise significantly. Strikes at major attractions can happen with little notice, and the Eiffel Tower closes in high wind or lightning, so keep a plan B. On the trains, SNCF’s new premium class on some TGV routes does not allow children under 12 on weekdays, and we actually like the idea of a quiet car.
What hotels cost
Paris hotels can be cheaper than many visitors expect. Average rates we shared were roughly 125 to 140 euros for three stars, 240 to 270 euros for four stars, and from 500 euros for a five-star room, taxes included. February and November are best for a budget; June is the most expensive.
Dates to know
- April 4: International Pillow Fight Day at Place de la République
- April 5: Easter, with services and concerts in historic churches
- April 12: Paris Marathon, with big road closures
- May 23: the Night of Museums, with free late openings
- May 24 to June 7: the French Open at Roland-Garros
- June 21: Fête de la Musique
- June 23 to 28: Paris Men’s Fashion Week
- Summer 2026: designated swimming spots in the Seine are scheduled to open
We also look into a few rumors, like the giant Louis Vuitton trunk on the Champs-Élysées (we were told it will be a flagship store, not a hotel).
