Inside Paris’s Most UNUSUAL Dinner Experience (Club Cochon)

In this video we take you inside Club Cochon, a restaurant near the Paris Opera where the whole menu celebrates pork, right up to a roasted suckling pig carved at the table. If you are curious about an unusual dinner in Paris that trades tiny portions for a proper feast, this one is for you.

What we ate

The owner told us they were testing a new menu, so we arrived just in time to try a few new dishes. Everything is homemade, and the chef clearly loves what he does.

  • Pâté en croûte, which we both agreed was the best we have had in France.
  • A pork carpaccio with black trumpet mushrooms and foie gras.
  • A beef tongue dish with mustard seeds and radish, which won over even Colleen, who does not usually like tongue.
  • The roasted suckling pig, with crispy skin, tender cheek, homemade fries and a homemade ketchup.
  • Grandma’s chocolate mousse, made from the chef’s grandmother’s recipe and topped with caramelized peanuts.

Good to know before you go

From the street you would never guess a pig is roasting upstairs. Downstairs there is a bar and a small shop where you can buy wine and treats. If you want the whole suckling pig, call ahead so they can order it, and it works best for a big group of 10 or 12 people. Visiting in late October or November? Ask about the Beaujolais Nouveau, which is light, fruity and easy to drink.

Our verdict

We gave five stars for location, service and food. We hold our fan meetups here, and the restaurant would not let us pay for this meal, but that does not change our opinion: the menu prices are very affordable for the quality.
