We Finally Ate at Le Jules Verne (Inside the Eiffel Tower)
In this video we finally have lunch at Le Jules Verne, the Michelin-starred restaurant on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. People always ask us whether eating at Le Jules Verne is worth the price, so we went to find out, and this page helps you decide if it belongs on your special-occasion list.
Getting there and the setting
The restaurant has its own entrance at the base of the tower, and the elevator ride up takes a minute and a half to two minutes. Gentlemen are asked to wear a jacket. Inside there are three rooms: the Trocadéro room, where we sat, the Champ de Mars room, and the Paris room, which looks over the Seine and Saint-Germain and has the best view. Next time, that is the room we will ask for.
What we ate
- Amuse-bouches, including a red pepper panna cotta with basil and a royale of onion with a hint of foie gras.
- A crab starter with Granny Smith apple and lime, and hazelnut ravioli with a mushroom velouté.
- Lobster with savory tapioca and dried caviar, langoustine, and sweetbreads with mashed potatoes.
- An optional cheese course of melted Saint-Nectaire with mashed potatoes and black truffle, our favorite bite.
- Desserts: a rhubarb meringue and a vanilla and coffee dessert with black citrus.
Our verdict
We gave the food six stars out of five, even though the savory tapioca and the rhubarb dessert were not quite to our taste. The service was attentive and relaxed, not stuffy. We paid 553 euros for two when we filmed, including 136 euros of champagne and wine, a cheese supplement and a 15 euro coffee. For a birthday, an anniversary or a honeymoon, we would absolutely recommend it. Book as soon as you know your dates, because reservations are hard to get.
