€236 Perruche Lunch | Best Rooftop Restaurant in Paris?
One of the questions we get most often is which restaurant in Paris has the best view of the Eiffel Tower. So we went to have lunch at La Perruche, the rooftop restaurant on top of the Printemps department store near the Opéra, to see if it lives up to the hype. We paid for this meal ourselves, and at the end of the video we tell you exactly how much it cost and what we thought.
How to get to La Perruche
The restaurant is inside Printemps Haussmann, on the top floor. Go through the store to the elevators: the one on the right takes you straight up to the restaurant, while the one on the left leaves you with a few flights of stairs to climb. You arrive through a jungle-style entrance onto a terrace with an almost 360-degree view.
The setting and the view
From up here you see the Opéra Garnier, the Ferris wheel by the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower, all from one of the highest points in central Paris. With its yellow striped chairs and the sun hats they hand out at the table, it feels more like the South of France than a department store roof. We were among the first seated and every table was taken soon after, so arrive early.
What we ate
- Focaccia with olive oil and coarse salt, and a glass of champagne to start
- Fried calamari with basil aioli, crispy and not chewy, and some of the best we have had in France
- Burrata salad with heirloom tomatoes, basil and olives
- A Provençal-style beef tartare with shoestring fries and an egg yolk
- Rigatoni in a light tomato and basil sauce
- A raspberry tart chosen for us by the waiter, with a tangy surprise inside every raspberry
Our verdict
The food was excellent from start to finish, and the view is exceptional. It is not cheap: starters run around €18 to €25 and fish dishes around €40, and our lunch for two came to €236. For a special occasion with a view of Paris, we think it is worth it.
