We Stayed in Paris’s Montmartre Most Secretive Hotel (Honest Review)
In this video we check in to Hotel Particulier Montmartre, a hidden hotel on a private cobblestone lane just a few blocks from the Sacré-Cœur. If you are looking for a romantic hotel in Paris, away from the Montmartre crowds but close to everything, this honest review covers the suite, the dinner, the breakfast and the full bill.
Arriving and our suite
You are buzzed through a gate and walk through a garden that feels like a small jungle. Check-in happens in the bar and restaurant, and was a little awkward, possibly because we were filming. We stayed in the Nile suite on the top floor, with five windows, bronze birds by the bathroom doors, thick red velvet curtains for complete blackout and a large, comfortable king bed. The bathroom has a mosaic bathtub, two side-by-side showers and a Japanese-style toilet. Our only small gripe: hardly any plugs and no USB ports. Two blocks from the busy streets, we could not hear a sound.
Dinner, garden and breakfast
- Champagne in the garden, next to a pétanque club and a kids’ vegetable garden.
- A fennel salad with parmesan, duck with orange, 12-hour slow-cooked lamb with summer vegetables, and a raspberry mille-feuille.
- Dinner was €212 when we filmed. The staff recognized us and offered a bottle of champagne, which does not change our review.
- Room-service breakfast was €25 each, or €30 with eggs and bacon, with croissants baked on site and fresh orange juice.
Our verdict
It felt like a well-appointed old Paris home, and the restaurant feels close to Michelin level. Our suite was €770 for one night in July 2025, in high season, so with dinner and breakfast we spent about €1,100. It is not a practical everyday stay but a destination for a special occasion, and we would recommend it and come back.
