Normandy Tours from Paris: The Best D-Day, Village & Coastal Tours for 2026

Normandy is one of the most powerful day trips you can take from Paris — and also one of the most emotional. Whether you’re drawn by the D-Day beaches, the charming harbor town of Honfleur, or the medieval streets of Rouen, it’s all reachable in a day from the capital.

But there are dozens of Normandy tour options, and they’re not all created equal. Some pack 50 people onto a bus. Others limit groups to 8. Some include lunch and hotel pickup; others don’t. Prices range from $197 to $2,600+ depending on the format.

We’ve spent years helping American travelers plan their Normandy trips. Antoine grew up visiting family near the D-Day beaches — this region is deeply personal to us. In this guide, we break down every type of Normandy tour from Paris so you can choose the right one for your budget, group size, and interests.

Normandy is really dear to me. It is as much a big part of world history and where I came every summer to visit my grand mother.

It is always emotional for me to come back for both reasons.

🏆 1. Small Group D-Day Tours (Our #1 Recommendation)

normandy tours from paris
Colleen & Antoine walking at the American cemetery

If you only have one day for Normandy and want to focus on the D-Day history, a small-group tour is the best balance of value, quality, and experience. These tours typically accommodate 6–8 people in a minivan with an expert English-speaking guide.

A typical day includes: pickup near the Arc de Triomphe around 6:45 AM, 2.5-hour drive through the French countryside, visits to German bunkers along the Atlantic Wall, Omaha Beach, Pointe du Hoc, the Operation Overlord Museum, the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, a lunch break at a local restaurant, and a cider tasting at a Norman orchard. You’re back in Paris by 8–9 PM.

Why we recommend small group over large bus tours: The guides are more engaged, you can ask questions freely, the pace is respectful (not rushed), and you’re riding in a comfortable van rather than a 50-seat coach. The price difference (€265 vs €130) is well worth it for a day this meaningful.

Small group tours: Starting €300USD pp

That’s the pricey option but awesome if you don’t want to be bothered with taking a train or if you prefer privacy. We’ve listed a few curated & preferred options below.
(12-14 hour day)

2-Take a Group Day trip Tour From Paris to Normandy ($$)
This option allows you to share the cost of transportation with other people in your group. Usually, the minibus will depart Paris at around 7 am and return by 7 pm
(12-14 hour day)

3-Take a Train from Paris to Bayeux and Book a Tour Guide from there ($$)
Book a Train from Paris Saint-Lazare station directly to Bayeux. The train ride takes about 2h30mn (direct) and costs about 100€ to 200€ round trip per person. From Bayeux, you can book your guided tour to the D-Day Beaches. We’ve listed a few curated & preferred options below

4-Rent a Car in Paris and visit Normandy on your own ($$$)
I’d recommend that you rent your car from CDG so you can avoid having to drive in & around Paris. The drive will take about 3h30mn on way. We’ve used SIXT several times in France and it has been a seamless experience.

Note that the D-Day beaches are spread over almost 100km (62 miles) and most of the roads are small country roads so make sure you add plenty of time for stopping for breaks and to take pictures. The drive from Caen to Sainte Mère l’Eglise takes almost one hour. That’s why we highly recommend that you stay overnight if you’re planning on driving on your own.
