Maybe you should skip the Eiffel Tower line. In this short video we climb the Sacré-Cœur dome, a 7 euro view of Paris (price from when we filmed) that might be even better, and when we went only a dozen people were up there with us. Why we love this view

The dome of Sacré-Cœur gives you a full 360-degree view of the city. For us, it beats the Arc de Triomphe too, and it feels far calmer than the big-name viewpoints.

Tips before you climb

• It is over 400 steep stairs, so wear good shoes and take your time.
• No reservation is needed. It is first come, first served at the entrance.
• Plan it as part of your Montmartre day, since you will already be on the hill.
