ETIAS Fall 2026 Update!

Are you an American planning a trip to Europe? You may have heard that you now need something called ETIAS to visit France, and worried that you have missed a deadline. In this short ETIAS update for fall 2026 we explain where things stand, so you can stop worrying and get back to planning your trip.

What changed

The ETIAS launch has been pushed back again, most likely into 2027. That means there is nothing you need to do, and nothing you need to pay for, right now.

What we suggest

• Do not apply or pay anywhere yet, because the system is not open.
• Be wary of any website asking you to pay for ETIAS today.
• Keep an eye on official EU information for the real launch date. This was the situation when we filmed.
