Staying in the Most French Hotel Ever!
In this video we check in to the ChouChou Hotel, a playful hotel a couple of blocks from the Paris Opera and the Galeries Lafayette where everything, from the bar to the décor, celebrates French pop culture. If you want a French-themed hotel in Paris that feels fun rather than formal, this honest review shows what to expect.
Our junior suite
We booked a junior suite, and it was very spacious, with a seating area, a city view, blackout shutters, a safe, a fridge, a record player and plenty of outlets and USB plugs. The bathroom has a glass wall, robes, a walk-in shower, a bathtub and a Japanese-style toilet. The king bed was comfortable, with French-style square pillows. Our suite was €340 when we filmed, and the hotel told us the same suite runs about €600 in high season.
The guinguette bar and the private baths
- The downstairs bar is styled as a guinguette, the casual dance-hall taverns of old Paris, with long shared tables and a stage.
- For a flat €26 per person when we filmed, they kept bringing food for about three hours: a charcuterie and cheese board, fries, salmon ceviche, chocolate treats and a warm chocolate cake.
- There are three private bath rooms with jacuzzis that hotel guests can book, at €69 for an hour and a half when we filmed, and you can bring drinks.
- Breakfast is a French-style buffet with quiche, croissants, charcuterie and good cappuccino.
Our verdict
We gave five stars for the room, food, service and location. The vibe is playful and very French without being a party hotel, and the crowd at breakfast was a real mix of ages. If you want a French immersion that still feels comfortable, this is a great pick.
