The Paris BOAT HOTEL Everyone’s Talking About

In this video we spend a night at the OFF Paris Seine, a floating hotel on the Seine between Gare de Lyon and Gare d’Austerlitz, built from two boats joined together with a swimming pool in the middle. If you are curious about a boat hotel in Paris and want to know about the noise, the rocking and the price, this honest review is for you.

Our room on the water

We had the most expensive room type, a suite facing the water, and it was much bigger than we expected. It has a large bathroom with a big bathtub, robes, plenty of toiletries, adjustable air conditioning, blackout curtains, a canopy-style bed and lots of outlets. We felt only a gentle rocking when boats passed, nothing that made us seasick. The hotel even gives you earplugs.

Pool, bar and breakfast

  • The bar and restaurant by the pool are open to non-guests too, and the menu is mostly sharing boards.
  • Our evening of two glasses of champagne, two cocktails, a mixed board and a vegetable board came to €98 when we filmed. A glass of champagne was €16.
  • Breakfast is a good mix of European and American, with bacon, eggs, smoked salmon, granola and fromage blanc.
  • The coffee machine was our only real complaint, and there is no room service.

Good to know

You can hear the metro and a party boat across the river until around 1 am, though it was muted once the windows were closed. Taxis cannot reach the door, so expect to walk about 100 yards with your luggage, which matters if you have mobility issues. Standard rooms facing the dock were €215 and our water-facing suite €377 when we filmed. We would not suggest it for a first visit because of the location, but for repeat visitors who want something different, and for families, we recommend it and would come back.
