We Visited The MOST Expensive Suite in All of Le Marais
In this video we step inside the most expensive suite in Le Marais, the Queen Suite at the Pavillon de la Reine, right by Place des Vosges. We have never paid for a €3,000-a-night room ourselves, so to make the comparison fair we first look at a €200 room and a €700 junior suite. If you are wondering what you actually get for your money in a luxury hotel in Paris, this one is for you.
Three rooms, three price points
Prices below are what we were quoted when we filmed the video.
- About €200 a night, Hotel Odeon Saint Germain: a nice three-star room in Saint-Germain with a tiny working elevator, a desk, a TV, robes, a stocked mini bar and L’Occitane products. It is comfortable but tight, especially the bathroom.
- About €700 a night in high season, Le Pavillon des Lettres: a junior suite with lots of space, a jacuzzi tub, a separate toilet, a big closet with a safe, and a view of the top of the Grand Palais and the Eiffel Tower from the bed.
- About €3,000 a night, Pavillon de la Reine: the Queen Suite, with two toilets, two showers, a huge bathtub, three mirror TVs, heated marble floors, antique Versailles-style parquet and a true American-size king bed.
What the Queen Suite includes
With this suite, breakfast, champagne and flowers on arrival and an unlimited mini bar were included when we visited. All guests can use the free bicycles, the spa and massage room, the honor bar in the lobby and the quiet courtyard, and the Gold Key concierges have worked there for decades. It feels less like palace luxury and more like a boutique apartment with 24/7 room service.
Our verdict
It is not the kind of room we stay in on a regular basis, since one night costs about a month’s rent. But for a honeymoon, an anniversary or a big birthday, we would happily splurge here. You walk straight out into Place des Vosges, with Victor Hugo’s house across the square and Carette around the corner for hot chocolate.
